What steel do you use when manufacturing a blade?

Every wood chipper blade has to be made from a grade of tool steel, in the industry this is known as Werkstaff number. For this industry the werkstaff number is 1.2631 (Chipper steel) this steel is widely available but can have metallic inclusions and impurities when bought on the open market. With Uddeholm all the tolerances that make up the chemical composite are very tightly controlled and each bar is ultra sonically tested before it reaches there customers making this one of the finest steels available.
